Though not posted here, Ginger Snaps promptly followed. What struck me about the recipe was how gripped I felt looking at sugar syrup recrystallizing. The hurrah moment, when you know, you were doing it right all along and i secretly laughed at all the recipes that ask for ginger to be coated in sugar as the coup de grace.

Semiya Upma
under incandescent lamp
under sunlight
Near perfect Semiya Upma, our lunch today. Followed this ingredient list but all cooking was done in a saute pan (unlike the five i might end up with according to the recipe) with two and half cups of water (again, unlike the advised seven!).

Ussal with Black-eyed Peas and sprouted Bengal Gram
(recipe: Sanjeev Kapoor's Kale Vatanyachi Ussal. I replaced kale vatane with black-eyed peas and sprouted bengal gram, and kokum with tamarind.)
